OK, try an IBM Thinkpad -- IBM really make good laptops.   Faster overall
at 1600 Mhz than my 2400+ Athlon XP desktop, too -- and a whole lot
quieter; and everything works in Linux.

(well, everything except for Linux-compatible APM hibernation co-existing
with Windows XP. That was painful -- eventually I installed DOS instead
so that I could set up suspend without XP screwing about with the install
drivers!)
