Mmmm. But then if we do that or if we implement Niall's idea, could you not
start some type of dos attack on the mail server by submitting large amounts
of data to be striped.
How about, and this is a little bit out there, but everyone who wants to
join ILUG gets an @ilug.linux.ie mail address? Yes I am aware of the
hardware/maintenance costs but it solves a number of issues.
1) Most mail sent to the list members will be local.
2) Legal dilemmas (Ref: W. Campbell) are minimized if not negated
3) Good opportunity for hardware vendors etc to sponsor ILUG
4) Increase the return rate of visitors to the web site (via web mail)
5) Large disclaimers
I am sure there are plenty more. Sure yes I am aware that there are
potential pitfalls, and yes that a LUG is not a SP. That being said there is
no real reason why we could not consider it. Perhaps a list of the prons and
cons would help?
