yes, but we archive this on a mailing list. if someone googles for
"linux ArraGen" they get an email from you to ilug as the first hit.
http://www.google.ie/search?q=linux+ArraGen
in fact, if one googles for "ArraGen," your ilug mails and mails to
other mailing lists come up. it appears that the bulk of the pages one
sees when searching for your company name are archived mailman messages
to various lists with a disclaimer prohibiting further dissemination.
i'm not a subscriber to the bioinformatics or bioconductor mailing lists,
but i've now read mails by you and stephen moore to those lists.
and for some reason on the archived messages, "helpdesk at arragen.com"
is a link to the ilug listinfo page. this is true for some of the other
mailing lists (for their own listinfo pages).
if someone at arragen who is a pr person or an executive type does a
search for arragen to see what their web pressence is, maybe they'll get
upset that all this info is being spread around. maybe you'll send out
a confidential email to a group of folks at another company and then
they'll forward that mail on. when your company takes them to court
saying they violated the email disclaimer, their lawyers can shoot back
all the publically available web pages with that same disclaimer on them
that you haven't followed up on.
again, ianal, i don't know what the effects of this legal disclaimer
are. your company obviously believes it has some effect.
