[ILUG] Eircon DSL - A word to the wise

[ILUG] Eircon DSL - A word to the wise

> Moral of the story, if you can't connect, don't believe them when they say that if the light is on, it's working. Tell them the light goes off intermittently and get an engineer on-site.

Pff.

That's nothing. You should try working for a 'real' tech support department,
where it's company policy to format the hard disk of a client, if the support
call lasts longer then 15 minutes, during busy periods.

Also, it invalidates your warranty not to obey the commandment of your tech
support monkey in such situations.

I was hated, since, I regularly spent more then 15 minutes ... actually trying
to fix the computer.

This is not the path to being a Supervisor in a tech support center.

"What's that you can't get email?"

"Err clear case of <bofh excuse>"
/checks watch

"I'm going to have to ask you to format your system".

Eircom ports indeed.
