I also was in a similar situation, needing to install FC2 from hard drive images.  I found the posting of your procedure.  Worked a charm, just changing directory labels.  I used drag and drop for copying to the boot directory as I had a minimal FC1 install to work from.  I have also learned from the experience more about the basic OS.  Thank you very much. Fedora should post this procedure on their site.
