Ditto, even for productions systems not running anything other than what comes
with the distro.
I always upgrade my home systems (clients, then servers) before upgrading a
clients system, and even then I leave a suitable 3-6 months before I'm happy
that an upgrade won't screw up.
PS: If you want CentOS 3.1 on DVD I have it.
