The crimp tool puts a plug on the end of a cable, you'll need a punchdown
tool http://arstechnica.com/guide/networking/jack.jpg

Why ? It actually isn't that bad... All you need is two cables from your
central location ( in my case garage ) to each point where you want
data delivered.... If you need to plug in 5 machines in one room you
can always use a local 8 port hub which is wired back to your main
location - that will only use 1 cable, leaving you one other spare
for an analog phone/fax... ( of course if you are sneaky and using
good cable, you actually get 8 pairs from two wires, and as 10/100 ethernet
only uses two pairs, you can get four ethernet connections over
two runs of cable - but that can get a bit fiddly wiring hydra cables at
both ends. ( or buying premade connectors to do the same )
.. but it does help if you get stuck )
This isn't a new problem, and there are loads of sites that go into
detail - google turned up this lot
