 Logitech usually are (you get a spare receiver anyway)

I got a keyboard+mouse bundle
and a trackball and switched them no problem.

Way I've usually read of is to put mouse ball in warm water, [washing-up
liquid in water], and leave there for few mins, give quick clean in
water, and let it dry naturally.
