[ILUG] Routing ppp and a null modem cable

I have two boxes.

One box is the server, set up like this.

ifconfig lo:1 192.168.3.1
pppd -detach crtscts lock proxyarp 192.168.3.1:192.168.3.2 /dev/ttyS0 9600 &

Box two is.

ifconfig lo:1 192.168.3.2
pppd -detach crtscts lock defaultroute 192.168.3.2:192.168.3.1 /dev/ttyS0 9600 &

Box 1 and 2 can ping each other respectively.

Box 1 has an interface called eth0 with 10.100.100.22 as it's ip.

I still have to do a route add -net default gw 192.168.3.1 to Box 2 and even 
after I do that, I can't ping any 10.100.100.x ips.

 From reading the howto 
http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-HOWTO/PPP-HOWTO.html#PPP-SERVER, what I've done 
should work.

But it doesn't...
