ATI have stopped giving specs out (I know the specs came from the
Weather Channel paying money). I don't
think nvidia have ever given out 3D specs for their cards. It also helps
the marketing department for other companies
to say "Oh, linux people only care about getting a driver, not getting
an open source one. We'll make
ours binary only too". Things are only getting worse in this regard,
not better (802.11b cards vs 802.11g, etc).
