this is a *should* work, I might give it a whirl on my setup at home later

Baahh who needs kdrive, the next xorg release (6.8.0) has accelerated
render on Radeon cards (makes gnome-terminal useful again..), and the
composite extension will work (turned off by default).. I run Xorg CVS on
my system at home for doing DRI stuff...
