Maybe not GPL drivers, but open specs, sure, and that's enough to
stop people whinging ;)
Matrox - used to, John Carmack used to work on the Gx00 OpenGL DRI,
then they started to hive off various functions into a wee 'HAL'
binary-only blob. I have full programming specs here for the
MilleniumII and G200.
ATi - mixed record, they give in eventually with enough pressure
and/or cash aimed at them.
Course, binary-only drivers make pressure for specs dissappear cause
Joe Soap doesnt care..
Intel - Slow, but all their i8xx graphics is open-source supported,
even for 3D AIUI.
so at least there's still Intel, thank god they appear to have sense.
(but, your choice of CPU is restricted). If only they'd put some into
effort into crushing NVidia ;)
