I was getting my daily fix of UserFriendly (http://userfriendly.org) when I
saw mention of UFie Diplomacy (http://ars.userfriendly.org/users/?id=42444)
and I immediately thought "What about ILUG Diplomacy?" Diplomacy, for those
who don't know, is a board game whose theme is European conquest. It is most
unusual among board games in not being dependent on luck insofar as no dice
are used.
Anyway, I'm sure there a few Diplomacy fans out there, and Diplomacy being
what it is, it's more fun to play with people you know at least slightly.
Mind you, you might want to read the paragraph starting "One caution:" at the
above link. I first came across the game when I worked in a shop which sold
it while I was still in school and a woman came in and picked up a set and
said "This is a great game. It breaks up families."
So how about it? Anyone for ILUG Diplomacy? I've no idea how Diplomacy by
email works but I'm sure we can figure it out. And as all participants will
I'm sure be using Linux it's completely on topic :-)
And yet another point - it's one more thing your ILUG is providing but only
because I decided to do it. As others have pointed out - it's your LUG. If
you'd like it to do something, get the ball rolling yourself.
