Both. I was thinking the best route would be to first run the installer
prior to migrating /home/oracle and the /DB directories. But it seems to
only support graphical install mode. mind you, I didn't research any
text mode install mode yet.

It was a 9i that was upgraded to 10g, I need to check if it requires a
9i install first or what the situation is. I've never done an upgrade
with oracle, installs yes. I imagine that I can just run the installer
for 10g instead. Its a bit too painfull the other way (time consuming).
But before I continue, I noticed that the firmware versions were way out
of date. So I'm gonna upgrade them first before continuing.
