I know it wasn't Dell's Christmas party last night Conor, so you must 
have been on the batter freelance - Keith did mention that the problem 
was in a laptop, so having the disk connected to the wrong controller 
is at least unlikely.

Yes, as long as something hasn't eaten the disk label, which seems to 
have happened here. As I mentioned earlier, Keith must be unlucky, 
because this is a rather severe error to have happen just when you run 
out of power.
