You have to be running 2.6, but i thought FC2 already was 2.6? You
definitely dont need to upgrade your kernel though, if you're already
running 2.6 (self rolled, or FC2) and have /sys mounted.

What you *do* need to do, if using an FC kernel, is run mkinitrd
again before rebooting, with the newly upgraded FC3 mkinitrd. (now,
this gets done if you upgrade/install a new kernel - for that new
kernel, which explains how it fixed for you).

This was all covered in the "Upgrading to FC3 - [was Re: [ILUG] DHCP
on home LAN?]" thread in Nov/Dec on ILUG, where Kenn Humborg brought
this up and I summarised my FC3 upgrade experience - you didnt read
that thread did you? ;)

But you dont need to upgrade the kernel, just run mkinitrd again.
