Dear all,
First, thank you all who contributed to the press release by providing
your time in discussions, transcribing, providing comment, drafting,
proofing etc. A press release has been drafted and is in review at the
moment and will be released as soon as possible. Your help was really
appreciated and is much valued.
However can I take this opportunity to announce the formation of a PR
Sub Committee. The purpose of this committee is to awaken the publics
interest in Linux further, through various PR means, respond to
scenarios as happened today, develop new and interesting ways to promote
Linux in Ireland, especially among the Irish technical community. The PR
sub committee will be of course, under the guidance of the PRO and the
Committee.
The PRSC WILL involve some of your time and you WILL be expected to do
something if you have committed to a project. You will of course be free
to opt in or out of a project at any time, however if this is mid
project you would be expected to brief other members as in much the same
way you would do a network handover or software project handover. A
further condition is that the PR sub committee is the to further promote
ILUG and LINUX and not individual business interests. However that does
not exclude individual business from making submissions or working with
the PRSC.
Member ship costs nothing and places only a few responsibilities. It is
expected to have regular enough meetings. Perhaps by being more public,
we could become one of the organisations "Media Land" call instead of
this mornings unfortunate reporting occurring.
To join, please mail me off list with PRSC JOIN as the topic with the
following information;
Name
Phone Numbers
Primary Email Addresses
Geographical Location
Estimated Availability
(Optional) Your thoughts on what we can be doing
Many thanks and best regards
