Folowing on the debacle recently on this list and elsewhere a number of
questions have been raised, in my mind at least.
What is the purpose of ILUG?
How can ILUG serve the OS community?
Does ILUG want to educate the masses on OS software?
Does ILUG want to take a more political role?
What kind of practical role do people want ILUG to have?
I realise that these questions cover quite a broad range of subjects, but
after watching the results of the week's incident I felt that they might be
worth addressing.
Why was ILUG not contacted when a subject directly pertaining to its
activities and its members was under discussion?
The reason may be that the media does not automatically think of ILUG when
such things come up for discussion.
IMHO this could be addressed and quite possibly should be.
