i think spamassassin supports a sql backend. you might look into that?
btw, if you combine sa with something like clamav for virus scanning and
tmda to deal with the remaining mail (to give the tiny percentage of
senders of false positives a chance to let you know their mail is not
spam), then you'll likely get down to a hand-countable number of spams
per year.
