[ILUG] Firefox, popups and new tabs

[ILUG] Firefox, popups and new tabs

Paul Jakma paul at clubi.ie

Well, I'm going back to Galeon, Firefox just doesnt have the
functionality I want for tabbed browsing.

The TabBrowser extensions go some way to making FireFox useable, but
are not perfect, they seem to get confused (eventually) by sites
which make use of javascript to open popups.

Also, Mozilla and Firefox's desktop env. independence is a bit of a
PITA. Galeon just knows (via GNOME) whether it can open things (eg I
installed Totem and suddenly found galeon knew how to open .mov,
etc.)

So back to galeon, and restarting it every few days, it is. (but I
had to restart Firefox a few times too, due to it becoming confused
about popups).

regards,
