The following article from redhats website might be of interest, I went
searching for it as I remember having serious problems when I wanted to try and
use redhat-config-printer in that it didn't seem to be just using the database
but doing something else as well.

Unless the updated rpm's that Tim advertised have changed the way the redhat-
config-printer works I think you'll probably find it easier to do it through
cups directly instead of trying to use the gui.
Did you have a look through the CUPS configure instructions at
LinuxPrinting.org http://linuxprinting.org/cups-doc.html . Looks good enough
that you should be able to get the printer configured using CUPS directly. If
you really want to use the redhat-config-printer gui to setup the driver I wish
you the best of luck :)
