Do you have the same issue with root and your ordinary user?  If so, it's
likely to be a global file at fault (eg /etc/profile as above).  If it's
specific to a user, try the users .bashrc & .bash_profile etc.

A quick way to find what's causing this might be: 

/bin/egrep 'PATH' ~username/.??*

and 

/bin/egrep 'PATH' /etc/*
