You're quite right! I was posting too quickly, and clearly need that
cup of coffee.[1] What I should have noted was the equivalent packages
from the security.debian.org apt repository, which _are_ compiled for
woody/stable.
[1] I was looking after author Karen Anderson for a science-fiction
convention last year, and apparently had a rather soulful look on my
face while quaffing my strong morning coffee. Karen quoted her late
husband Poul as saying that one can pinpoint the moment Scandinavians
stopped being the scourge of western civilisation and started turning
out people like Trygve Lie and Dag Hammarsjold: It was when they
reached central Europe and finally got their caffeine fix.
