It's a point. Bear in mind that you're hearing from someone who's
risk-adverse as to hardware (and who hasn't been buying a lot of it
since the dot-com crash). But SATA's nonetheless pretty new.
I'll bet any of the installers with recent 2.4.2x installation kernels
would do fine -- e.g., Knoppix.
