[ILUG] learning about initrd

[ILUG] learning about initrd

Darragh lists at digitaldarragh.com

Hello,
Now that speakup is module based what ever that means, there are a few
commands that I have to type to get it to start at bootup. However, the
commands don't work and instead of asking why I'd like to read a bit about
this initrd thing first.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

I'm just trying to find out what the initrd does, how I can view delete and
edit the list of things it does and probably some more basic things as well.

Thanks

If your interested, the commands that I'm talking about are on the speakup
modified fedora core installation howto site.

Darragh
