That can't be the issue, as he's getting sound. Anyway, NTL cable transmits on
VHF, and broadcast TV is UHF. What might be the problem is the PAL type as
the sound sub carrier separation (difference in carrier frequency between
audio and video signals) is different in different PAL types, so if you for
instance try to use an Irish TV in Europe, you'll be able to tune in sound OR
video, but not both at the same time.
