You could always add ``openoffice -quickstart &''[0] to your
.xinitrc/.xsession, which will start OO.o in the background
so its really fast to start when you do start...

Only problem is that when you then close it, the next time you
start its back to being slow again... 

Anyone know a generic (non kde/gnome) way of keeping quickstart ?
