[ILUG] XP boots *much* faster than Fedora

ensure your HDD is set to max. performance settings (hdparm -d1 -m16
-X70 /dev/hda) as early as possible; then trick the whole out with something
like rm /etc/rc5.d/S??gdm ; ln -s /etc/init.d/gdm /etc/rc5.d/S01gdm
and it will be amazingly fast to let you log in. :)

ps: what services are you letting start, anyway?
