nss_ldap is apparently supported on both Linux and Solaris.    OpenLDAP comes
with scripts and schemas to make the migration process relatively painless.

However, I've a feeling there are issues with nss_ldap and FreeBSD due to the
way BSD does authentication - you might be able to find a different module
to do the trick though.
