sure you can, have a look at glib and GTK+. Eg just about everything
descends from GtkWidgets, so no matter what the widget at hand you
can apply the methods for GtkWidget to it.
Further, GtkWidget and just about everything else is a GObject, so
you can use GObject methods on just about everything too (eg
g_object_unref()).
