[ILUG] nvidia & glx

[ILUG] nvidia & glx

Hello,

I have a problem with the proprietary nvidia drivers. Before we go under
a "why not running the Xfree one ?", you should know this one is not
supported under xfree 4.2,3.x as a default (not under Debian sid
anyway).

I'm running sid with XFree 4.2.1, and lately got the nvidia-kernel and
nvidia-glx from Debian non-free to run on a stock Debian 2.4.24-1-k7
kernel. It turns out that my XFree freezes when running 3D applications.
If i comment out glx in the XF86Config file, all works.

This behavior is the same weither i use the official nvidia or the
debian ones. It also freezes with another nvidia card (the one i'm
currently using is the integrated geforce4mx440 from an asus a7n8x-vm
mobo). My current workaround is disabling glx but does not suit me
really.

Also, i tried with and without agpgart (currently using the nvidia AGP
module). That behavior also occured on previous kernels (2.4.21 -> 4).
I'm pretty familiar with nvidia on via chipsets and usually manage to
get my way around but this nforce2 board drives me insane.

Any help welcome.
Steph
