[ILUG] Mandrake 10 and kde 3.2

We have been trying out Mandrake 10. Everything appears VERY slow. The main 
kde menu takes several seconds top appear whereas the main kde menu in 9.1 
kde 3.1 was immediate. Applications take several seconds to appear when they 
use to be fast. Anyone any idea why? I thought kde 3.2 and 2.6 kernel where 
mean't to be faster? I have checked for rogue services but this was an update 
and all the services are the same as when we had 9.1. Also the machine is an 
Athlon XP2000 with 256MB ram so we should be OK for resources.
