Okay, I take you back to the first mail I posted, I asked did anyone
want to do a critique, we are getting there in terms of the type of
stuff you refer to as does Kevin Buckley in his mail. The great thing
about being open is openness.
I do not feel that the article needs a response, as no one has done a
critique that shows this. Certainly more information could have been in
the article, but like code in the kernel there is a point at which you
make stuff optional.
Perhaps using the feedback on this article we should go and construct
something.
At the moment I am writing a paper that is an attempt to show why the
evolution to Free Software, FLOSS or some other title for that which
encompasses the Linux experience is not only natural but a necessity for
software companies to survive.
This does not detract from the rights of someone to package a set of
useful tools in the form of a distro. This is in itself is a service,
for people who do not have the bandwidth or time to build, manage, and
resource their IT to fix all bugs, why well because some businesses are
one person shows, and they have other things to do to keep the money
coming in, or they will starve. Cooperation is the way forward.

Regards,

Paul O'Malley
