Actually, there seems to be a saor/libre version of this software on
sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ext2fsx/
It's licensed under both a BSD-style licence and the GPL. It's possible
that the above utility is a closed-source program incorporating the code
under the former licence.
