[ILUG] soft raid (contd)

[ILUG] soft raid (contd)

Hello,

I am seriously loosing my marbles on this one ... I posted a problem
about a month ago concerning a soft raid setup (raid1) on a 2.6.7
kernel with two SATA maxtor drives connected on a sil 3112 raid
controller.

My first attempt was to create a 100GB raid1 soft array which i did
but /dev/sda2 kept detaching itself under heavy load.

I decided eventually yesterday to get rid of the partitions on
/dev/hd{a,c}2 and re-create a 20GB array instead. Before doing this i
used fdisk to change the filesystem type (it was set to autoraid) and
rolled it to ext2, rebooted and formatted both.

I then booted up under mdk 10 and used their raid configuration
utility (the disk partitioner) and created a soft raid1 20GB array. It
was happy with it and went on formatting the array. I just looked in
/proc/mdstat and sda2 is detached again, logs to follow below.

If anyone has some insight on this, it would be greatly appreciated,
i'm even considering not using soft raid anymore. I also posted to
linux-raid twice but they never repplied ...

Also, i'd like to add smartclt reported all partitions to be clean and
both disks to be ok.
