Well, you could for one try specifying what the hardware is. However,
aarich - sounds like Adapatec AAR SATA "RAID" controller based on
Intel ICH-5. Which is *not* hardware RAID, if it was sold to you as
such you've been had.
Try using the ata_piix libata driver and linux software raid instead.
You might need to upgrade your kernel though, see:
