[ILUG] samba & permissions

[ILUG] samba & permissions

Hi,
have a samba server which people use for pc copies/backups.

When changing over to a new pc, one user copied lots of folders to the
samba share, then copied back down to new pc.
Old one was w98, new one is xp pro.

Strange problem, seems to be permissions related..

double-clicking on a file in explorer should open the application, and
open the file.
Some work, some dont.. the app opens, but the file doesnt get loaded.

Have tracked it down to a particular folder. - If I copy the file from
the samba server
to one folder it works. - Copy the same file to the other folder, it
doesnt work.
The xp properties show the same for both folders, so I guess there is some
black magic at work regarding the permissions.
Both folders have drwx------ on the samba box.

I dont have any settings in the smb.conf for permissions, so I assume it
defaults to something.

Any pointers ?
