Speaking personally - no, I dont have ANY privacy concerns as regards
GMail. However, many of those to whom I have offered a GMail account
have referred to some articles at El Reg (e.g.
<http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/04/03/google_mail_is_evil_privacy/>
and other places. I've beome so tired of this that the defensive
attitude cited above is almost my default cant when I speak about the
service.
I love GMail, FWIW, and really enjoy using it, especially for Debian
and VIM user groups. I am also finding this group a huge benefit, now
I can search it the Google way. (And no, everyone who does a fantastic
job with the linux.ie site, I'm not complaining!)
I have read the GMail privacy documents, and I am happy to use the
service. I do have some concerns overall about asymmetric data
profiling, but not so much as to make me want to miss out on this
service. Besides, asym thingy is of far more concern elsewhere.
Daniel.
