Hi,
The perceived increase in "spam" might just be those viruses that I keep
hearing so much about (do viruses count as spam?). No real scientific theory
behind this, but the garbage that has both been getting past my spamassasin
filter as well as onto this list has generally looked like W32.Netsky.D at mm and
friends.
Here's a breakdown of mail to ILUG over the last two days:
unsolicited commercial mail: 4
Talking about spam: 14
virus: 11
non-spam-or-virus: 28
postmaster garbage: 5
(Out of the postmaster garbage, all but one was related to MyDoom.)
All we need to do is stop people from spreading viruses, then we'll be down to
only 4 unwanted mails in 2 days. We appeared to solve the world's autoresponder
problems last week, let's keep the ball rolling!
Brian.
