I'm an Eircom ADSL (Home Plus) subscriber,
and am trying to set up mozilla-mail to user Sir Anthony's server.
I can send and receive email through the eircom webmail service,
but haven't managed to send email from Mozilla.
I get the message "Unable to access SMTP server %S".
although I have set the mail-server (in and out)
to mail1.eircom.net as prescribed.
(Both mail.eircom, net and smtp.eircom, net are aliases for this.)
I should confess at this point that I am working on a laptop
connected (wirelessly) to the internet via my desktop.
I don't know if any firewall issue could arise?
I can ping all the servers involved from my laptop.
I don't see any relevant remarks in any of the log files.
As usual, I rely on the bottomless wisdom of ILUG.
Any suggestions or advice gratefully received.
