Just on the topic of Broadband, if you're in a suitable area, Irish
Broadband have some good product offerings.
http://www.irishbroadband.ie/
I'm thinking of signing up for the Breeze Home which gives me unlimited
upload/download at 0.512Mbps (both directions) and a 20:1 contention
ratio. The upside is that it's only €35 a month but the downside is
that I have to get a small antenna on the roof. As I don't have a home
phone and don't want to pay Eircom in excess of €20 a month for line
rental I can live with this. The installation fee is more expensive,
€149, but that is again countered by the line rental. You also get a
static IP.
If anyone is interested, I did a small comparison yesterday between the
various products and you can download it here:

Errors and omissions ARE DEFINATELY EXPECTED! If anyone wants to update
the OpenOffice version and send it back go ahead and I'm more than
willing to put in a bit more work and convert it to a HTML table for
the ILUB website if there is a demand/considered useful.
A very useful website is the Dept. of Communications (and other things):
