If by advanced one means that there is scripting going on then one can
safely say that the initial tool being used is a spreadsheet with some
programming. This can be done with OOo, your language may differ but it
is available. 
If you change cars you learn where the new buttons are, I wonder if
these 'power users' had an OOo power user to help them.
