[ILUG] poltics email PR and stuff

Hi,

It falls to me as PRO to write items of this nature, I have followed the
various threads on this list. However so that it is seen as an ILUG
statement, and not just something that I have as a bee in my bonnet
with, I must pass it to the committee for approval.

This is how it works. So to bring you all up to date here is what I am
currently doing, I have an A4 notepad beside my copy of the Sunday
Business Post and the relevant article and I am jotting down what I can
in terms of thoughts. I should have an answer later today, I will adopt
the thoughts found here that I feel are most effective in communicating
our position. I will then submit this to the committee, if I get their
agreement then it becomes a press release.

It should be noted that a press release tends to be a single A4 page
double line space with wide margins.

Perhaps you may agree with me that there are three items to be published
here. The first being the article in the Sunday Business Post, which
needs an expansion of the debate so as to allow more data be put in the
frame for those that wish to evaluate Linux and other platforms. The
second being a press release of the form mentioned above. The third
being a letter to various political parties.

This does not preclude you from having your and airing your opinion. You
are free to debate the issue, and win converts for your perspective and
if you really feel strong enough organise to kick me out (see the
constitution).

I do however that the AGM is only a couple of weeks away and that is a
good thing, see you all there etc. (Now I must find out where it will be
held. :-))

I believe in transparency which is why I have made it clear how I will
work this and other topics.
