Oh you could always get Solaris x86.
Compile Xfree for it... get all the tools ... the desktop environment.
You might even get OpenGL accel working.
You might even get a third party mostly functional driver for your sound card
as I did.
Apparently though, the tulip driver isn't available for Solaris x86 or back
when I used it it wasn't even though a driver for the es1371 was available.
*bangs a random underling's head off a wall in frustration[1]*
[1]One of the perks for not being the underling anymore.
