FWIW, I knew the guy about 6 years ago, back then he was just discovering 'nix, his home PC was stuffed with every bit of hardware he could get into or onto it.
Guess the bug bit him and he reckoned he could make money from his hobby.

Haven't a clue if his systems are any good, but I'd be surprised if he disappeared off into the night.
