absolutely. on a related note, I have followed that advice for years in
the fields that I excel in - HTML and CSS. because of this, I now know
those markup languages backwards and forwards, and am comfortable
explaining workarounds for most problems.
I try to do that with Linux as well - but it's hard to find a newbie on
the ILUG list!
