At the same time, it's also good to contact people to say "thanks for 
listening".  Many people on this list have worked in tech support at one time 
or another, god help them/us. 

 Like tech support, politicians mostly get people bitching at them.  Unlike 
tech support, politicians get rather a lot of bribe offers (but you'd be 
surprised how many people try to bribe tech support).

Seldom do people simply say "thank you", and it can go a long way.
