don't do this .. Gatos is nothing to do with what you want,

the original combination of XFree 4.4, 2.6.6 should work, I know this
because I'm the 2.6 DRM maintainer,

If that doesn't work trry grabbing a DRI snapshot ..

X org 6.7 is borked for DRI if some of the latest posts on the dri lists
are anything to go by .. so don't bother with that suggestion either..

If original 4.4 and 2.6.6 don't work, can you send me a copy of
/var/log/XFree86.0.log, and /etc/X11/XF86Config? I'll at least be able to
tell if it is close to what is normal...
