what a coincidence!

Yesterday, I spent most of the day reading up on this, and came across a
thread which mentioned the above as an aside - almost an afterthought.

I tried it (Option "AGPMode" "4"), and suddenly everything worked!

My current setup is:
no FB modules.
radeon installed as a DRM module
XFree86 installed from the DRI fork

My device section in XFree86 is this:
Section "Device"
     Identifier "radeon"
     Driver "radeon"
     VideoRam 65536
     BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
     Option "AGPMode" "4"
     Option "EnablePageFlip"
EndSection

The EnablePageFlip option boosted the speed of GL by almost 50%. Was
getting 1923 fps before with glxgears (192fps without DRI), am now
getting 2667.

I played Tuxracer and Enemy Territory for the first time yesterday. My 8
month old son loves Tuxracer.

Thanks guys. I'll do a more comprehensive write-up for my blog, so
people can find the answer a bit easier.

Kae
