Hi all,
Thanks for all the advice, I was under pressure to get the system up
& running fast & may have missed a lot of the obvious stuff.
In a nutshell, when I saw that Smoothwall had a problem with the 2nd card I
replaced it with a different card ( rtl8139 chip set) & Smoothwall picked it up
no problem but not the 2nd 3com card. I cant swear to this, but i'm sure that
lspci has no refernece to the 2nd card.Having only one monitor is no help
either, once the system was up & running I had to leave it running fo rthe
weekend using just the modem feeding the hub & 2 pc's. hope to get back to it
this evening.
BTW , I seem to remember reading in a HOWTO that getting Linux to accept 2 NICS
was possible but not easy?
Regards
Pat
